Fees

My fee is $200 for an Initial Consultation and $185 for either an Individual Psychotherapy Session or a Parenting Session. Sessions on the weekends are $250. I reserve the right to increase my fee once a year. The increase will not exceed 10%

Late Cancellations and No Shows

I have a 24-hour Cancellation Policy. People who do not cancel with 24 hours notice will still be billed for the whole session and these sessions, if prepaid, are not eligible for refunds. No-shows are billed in the same way as a late cancellation and are not eligible for refunds. As I hope everyone can understand, my only real commodity is my time and I cannot give it away.

Privacy Considerations

Privacy or Confidentiality is a fundamental requirement for effective psychotherapy. It applies to both individual psychotherapy with teenagers and parenting sessions with parents. There are only three real exceptions that apply to everyone.

1. High Risk Suicide

I determine that the person in session, whether a teenager or parent, is at a high risk of death by suicide. In these cases, appropriate family members are informed and a plan is made to keep the suicidal person safe. This may include going to a hospital with emergency psychiatric services for immediate treatment or calling emergency first responders.

2. High Risk Homicide

I determine that the person in session, whether a teenager or parent, is at high risk of homicide. In these cases, appropriate family members are informed and a plan is made to keep the person at risk of homicide from harming anyone. This may include warning the person at risk of death by homicide and informing the proper authorities.

3. Abuse of Vulnerable People

The person in session informs me that a vulnerable person such as a minor, disabled person, or elderly person is being abused. If I received enough identifiable information about the person being abused I have a legal and ethical obligation to report the information to the abuse hotline and/or the proper authorities.

HIPPA

The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) is a federal law designed to protect the privacy and security of your health information. In a psychotherapy setting, HIPAA ensures that your sensitive information, such as therapy notes and personal health data, remains confidential and secure. Only authorized individuals have access to this information, and it cannot be shared without your explicit consent, except in specific, legally defined situations (such as safety concerns). My practice complies with all HIPAA regulations to provide a safe, private, and trustworthy environment for your care.

Health Insurance Reimbursements

I run a private pay psychotherapy practice. I do not accept health insurance directly but I can provide receipts for reimbursement by health insurance companies if you have a policy that has that benefit. Please keep in mind that this may involve submitting information like dates of sessions, treatment plans, progress notes, and formal diagnoses to your insurance company. Once I share this information I no longer have any control or ability to keep the information private and it may be accessed by third parties in some circumstances. Before deciding to use health insurance to pay for your teenager's psychotherapy please visit the â€‹The Benefits of Private Pay Psychotherapy page to help you make an informed decision.
